Life is so Life is cha

Therapy is scary.  You are sharing your story with someone--and it's someone you don't immediately have a relationship with.

It can be hard to let people into your world, especially if you've been dealing with issues in private.

My mission? To help you know you are NOT alone.  You have a wingman to help you deal with anything life has thrown your way.

Fine Print: SHOP AROUND for the "right" therapist for you.  Find an individual you feel comfortable with.  You'll know the right fit--it's just like when you find that perfect pair of shoes at the store and  you're thinking "where have you been my whole life?!"

I offer a complinteray 15-minute phone call prior to booking sessions so my wonderful people have a chance to meet me and see if I'd be the right type of shoe for them.  (I definitely don't want to be the source of an ingrown toenail).

Please reach out if you're interested to know more!

ABOUT ME

Hello there! I would love to be a part of your journey towards healing. I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology at Syracuse University in upstate New York. I came back to the Midwest for graduate school and completed my masters degree in counseling psychology at the university of Missouri—Kansas City. During my undergraduate clinical internship, I treated substance abuse and addictive behaviors at Crouse Hospital. During graduate school, my area of clinical focus was eating disorder treatment at the Midwest Center for Eating Disorders. After graduate school, I worked in a variety of settings  including child welfare, eating disorder IOP/PHP, psychiatric residential treatment, and a domestic violence shelter. I am very trauma-focused, and happy to utilize EMDR if that is your preference. I have been a therapist for nearly a decade now, and have an eclectic approach when assisting you. I am well versed in narrative therapy, experiential therapy, psychodynamic theory, and (wait for it), fiddling! That’s right, I love to incorporate music and movement into therapy sessions because I feel it’s extremely important when uniting the mind and body. I completed a year long fellowship at the Transgender Institute of Kansas City.  I am a certified gender therapist and able to assist you with the process that occurs prior to onset of hormone replacement therapy. I am the child of immigrant parents and have a huge passion for the BIPOC population and the traumas we have collectively endured. Having a positive relationship with our bodies begins with self-acceptance—the hardest thing to do! As your therapist, I want to assist you in this process, no matter what the process looks like for you. In today’s world, we are constantly told that we aren’t enough: race, weight, age, sexual orientation, and gender are threats to our mental well being. Additionally, I cannot ignore my passion for littles and the importance of therapy during childhood. Healthy attachment, expression of feelings, and understanding of emotions start during youth, and blossom with age. If you and/or your child are struggling with ANY of these issues, I’m the therapist for you!
